AI Drop By

WorkshopFreeBeginnerStudentsGeneral

About this event

A free, no-registration drop-in table in the PCL lobby where UT Libraries staff run activities, games and conversations about using generative AI responsibly — come for five minutes or stay for the full two hours.

Low-commitment AI literacy

AI Drop By is exactly what the name suggests: a staffed table in the lobby of the Perry-Castañeda Library, open for two hours at lunchtime, with no sign-up and no obligation to stay. UT Libraries staff use activities, games and short conversations to get people thinking critically about how generative AI is actually being used — and where it should and should not be trusted.

What you get out of it

The session rotates through selected AI topics rather than following a fixed curriculum, and staff walk visitors through the Libraries' own AI guide and the tools and resources available to them. It is pitched at people forming their first opinions about these systems rather than at practitioners.

Practical details

  • When: Wednesday, November 11, 12:00–2:00 p.m.

  • Cost: Free, drop-in, no registration required

This is the November occurrence of the series; an earlier one ran on October 28. Note the clock change — by this date Austin is on Central Standard Time, so the session runs 12:00–2:00 p.m. CST.
