Austin | Intro to Harness Engineering | Build & Brew

WorkshopFreeIntermediateDevelopersStudents

About this event

NextWork's Austin Build & Brew night opens its harness-engineering track with a hands-on warm-up: writing a simple agent tool from scratch over drinks at Lazarus Brewing on East 6th.

Bring a laptop

NextWork's Build & Brew series is deliberately hands-on — people learn AI by building with it rather than watching slides. This session is the introductory meeting for the group's harness-engineering track, the discipline of designing the scaffolding an AI agent runs inside: the tools it can call, the context it receives, and the loop that ties them together.

Before getting into serious harness work, the evening starts with a short warm-up project — building a simple agent tool from scratch. The organizers ask attendees to bring a laptop and come ready to write code.

Practical details

  • When: Thursday, August 6, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Lazarus Brewing Co. East 6th, 1902 E 6th Street
  • Cost: Free; RSVP through Luma

The format suits people who already write some code and want to work on agent internals rather than prompt tips. It is also an easy first meeting to attend — a short session in a brewery, with the group's more involved sessions following later.
