DevConf.US 2026
About this event
The eighth annual DevConf.US, Red Hat's free open source community conference, runs two days on Boston University's Brookline campus. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is a primary conference theme, covering LLMs, PyTorch and applied machine learning. Free, but registration is required.
DevConf.US is the North American edition of Red Hat's community conference series, and 2026 is its eighth outing. It is genuinely free, and it is aimed at people who contribute to open source rather than people evaluating a vendor.
The AI angle
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is one of the conference's primary themes, spanning large language models, PyTorch and applied machine learning. Worth being clear about scope: DevConf is a broad open source conference with a substantial AI track, not an AI-only event. For a free two day event within the metro, that track alone justifies the trip.
Practical notes
Both days run 8am to 5pm, and every session takes place inside the single building at 43 Hawes Street on BU's Wheelock College campus in Brookline. Format is talks, presentations, meetups and workshops, in English.
The call for papers was still open in mid-August, so the session schedule and speaker roster were not yet published. Check the DevConf site for the agenda as it fills in.
Organized by
Open source software company that sponsors and organises the free DevConf community conference series. DevConf.US is the North American edition, hosted in partnership with the Red Hat Collaboratory at Boston University and aimed at contributors to free and open source technologies.
