Socialism after AI

About this event

Free LSE public lecture where Evgeny Morozov argues AI radicalises an earlier enclosure of the infrastructures of knowledge and culture, chaired by Professor Lea Ypi.

Dr Evgeny Morozov delivers this LSE public lecture, chaired by Professor Lea Ypi.

The argument is that AI radicalises a shift already under way, enclosing the infrastructures of knowledge, culture and imagination rather than simply automating tasks. Morozov addresses what he identifies as a gap in leftist theory around technologically mediated action and who controls societal infrastructure.

The lecture touches resource allocation debates in socialist thought, European AI sovereignty, and technological dependency in the Global South.

Co-hosted by Alternatives to Capitalism, the LSE Law School and the Ralph Miliband Programme. Free and open to the public, in person and online via LSE Live. The specific room is released to ticketholders. A recording is posted to the LSE YouTube channel afterwards.
