EU AI Act: Prohibited Practices
About this event
A Seattle discussion on the EU AI Act's prohibited AI practices, from manipulative systems and social scoring to facial recognition and workplace emotion recognition.
AI Governance Society holds an in-person discussion of Article 5 of the EU AI Act at Die Bierstube in Roosevelt. The group uses the law's prohibited practices as a starting point for a practical conversation rather than a formal legal lecture.
Topics include manipulative AI, systems exploiting vulnerability, social scoring, predictive policing, biometric databases, workplace emotion recognition and the constraints on public facial recognition. The session also asks how organizations can identify unacceptable uses before deployment, with space for examples from U.S. workplaces, public services, security and consumer technology. No legal or technical background is required.
Organized by
Seattle discussion group on AI policy, regulation and governance. Meetings are anchored on a current article or ruling and run as open conversation rather than presentation, with no specialist background assumed.
