Zombie Radio AI — The Austin Python Meetup

LLM actors, improvising a radio play

October's Austin Python Meetup is given over to "Zombie Radio AI" by Alfredo Valles — a Python command-line application that performs an audio-only theatre piece with several LLM voice actors improvising their way through a story about four people trapped in a lab with zombies.

The output is a continuous stream of spoken dialogue engineered to sound like a 1930s radio broadcast, an explicit nod to Orson Welles's 1938 Halloween "War of the Worlds" episode. Unlike radio, the listener can interact with the unfolding story.

It is a genuinely useful case study in multi-agent orchestration: several language models holding distinct characters in a shared scene, coordinated in real time, with human-quality text-to-speech carrying the result. Anyone working on voice agents, multi-agent systems, or generative audio will find recognisable engineering problems here — turn-taking, character consistency, and latency — in an unusually enjoyable setting.

• Where: Brazos Place, 800 Brazos Street — the in-person session is hosted by Antler in downtown Austin. Note the organizer's warning that the entrance is on Brazos Street, not 8th.
