The Right to a Human Decision: Safeguard or Formality?

MeetupFreeAll levelsResearchersBusinessGeneral

About this event

A Berlin discussion on whether human oversight still protects people in high-stakes automated decisions as agentic AI acts faster and more autonomously, with legal and policy experts.

Merantix AI Campus hosts a public discussion about human involvement in automated decisions. It asks whether Article 22 GDPR and the EU AI Act provide meaningful safeguards when increasingly autonomous, fast-moving agentic systems make conventional human review difficult.

Speakers include Prof. Dr. Philipp Hacker, who researches law, AI and algorithmic fairness, and Oxford law professor Jeremias Adams-Prassl. The session considers system-level safeguards, accountability and human agency in high-stakes AI. Doors close at 18:30 sharp, so arrive early for the 18:00 start.
