LA Hacks, the UCLA student organisation behind one of Southern California's largest collegiate hackathons, runs a dedicated AI and machine learning event across a weekend at the James West Alumni Center in Westwood.
The format is in person only, with participation gated by application and acceptance followed by an RSVP. Teams build against tracks tied to real world problem statements. Submissions require a written project description, a public source repository and a demonstration video of roughly two to three minutes, and teams must be present in person for judging.
Judging criteria are published in advance and weigh technical depth, product thinking and impact, execution quality, and originality. Prizes were listed as still to be determined and non monetary at the time of verification.
