Autonomous Vehicle (RC): Beginners and Builders
About this event
Monthly DIYRoboCars build night in San Diego where attendees work on neural-network-driven autonomous RC vehicles, from small scale models up to full size, over food and drinks. Beginners welcome.
The San Diego Robotics Club and FAB LAB San Diego run this monthly evening session for people building self-driving RC vehicles, part of the wider DIYRoboCars community.
Projects range from 1:28 scale cars up to full-size conversions. The technical core is the same at every scale: capture driving data, train a convolutional network to predict steering and throttle from camera input, then work out why the model behaves differently on the track than it did in validation.
The session is explicitly open to beginners as well as people with running vehicles, and attendees help each other with builds and debugging.
Held at the Coronado Brewing Company tasting room on Knoxville Street. Food and drinks are ordered individually. This series is cross-posted between two groups, so the same session may appear twice elsewhere.
