A Seattle AI Week panel with local arbitrators and dispute resolution professionals on where AI genuinely helps in arbitration practice, and where bias, hallucination and confidentiality risks make it unusable.
This Seattle AI Week session brings together Seattle-area arbitrators and dispute resolution professionals for an hour on AI in arbitration practice.
The framing is refreshingly concrete. Rather than speculating about machines replacing arbitrators, the panel works through near-term uses that already exist: case preparation, document review, procedural management, legal research, issue spotting, evidence organisation and settlement evaluation. Against that it sets the specific risks, bias in model outputs, hallucinated citations, confidentiality breaches when case material goes into a third-party system, transparency, and overreliance.
The session also covers disclosure and consent obligations, meaning when a practitioner has to tell the parties that AI tools were used in their proceeding. That is an unsettled area and one of the more useful things to hear practitioners argue about in person.
