AI Developments in Scholarly Publishing: The Last Year in Review

MeetupFreeAll levelsResearchersBusinessGeneral

About this event

Angela Cochran of ASCO and Gary Price of infoDOCKET review a year of AI in scholarly publishing at GW's Arlington Education Center, covering reading, authorship and peer review as publishers move from deliberating to implementing.

GW's Graduate Program in Publishing, with the Society for Scholarly Publishing's DC Area Engagement Committee, hosts a year-in-review evening on artificial intelligence in academic publishing.

The central observation driving the session is that publishers have moved from debating whether to use AI to implementing it, and the consequences of that shift are now visible across reading behaviour, authorship norms and the peer review process itself.

Speakers are Angela Cochran, Vice President of Publishing at the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Gary D. Price, co-founder and editor of infoDOCKET. Both have followed this closely from inside the industry. The format includes substantial time for questions.

The event is free with registration requested, and open to everyone regardless of SSP membership. It runs at GW's Arlington Education Center on North Glebe Road in Ballston. Registration is handled through the SSP site.
